Portal Commander is actually one of my assignments during my study at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL). It is a project that combined various stuff and materials like drawing, painting and paper clay models. Below are some images taken during the progress until finished.

  Sketches

Portal Commander project began with ideas that involved sketches and concept drawings. There are two characters; Commander Core (Com-Core) and Commander Scorpion (Com-Scorpion). Below are some of the sketches.

Most of the designs were influenced from computer games, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun and C&C3: Tiberium Wars by Westwood Studios and Electronic Art while some styles were from Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama.

  Character Pack

After done lot of sketches and concept drawing, the final design was approved and the next stage began, a Character Pack. It's a compilation of the story, character profile, poses, character turnaround, etc. By doing a character pack, we will understand more about the character especially the character body, shape, size, expressions and how they look from any different angles. Below are some scans from the Character Pack.

  Paperclay Models

Honestly I'm not very expert in this but I think its pretty enjoyable to make and see the characters in a real 3d form.

The models was done using paperclay. You can get paperclay from any art shop and it's price is around RM7 - 10 per pack (sorry I forgot it's weight).  I used 3 to finished both Com-Core and Com-Scorpion models.

  Painting

Some of the sketches I made on paper before proceed with canvas.

The painting was done using acrylic on 24" x 36" canvas.
